Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss

Did you see Google today? Apparently it's Dr. Seuss' birthday.

One fish, two fish, red fish blue fish....

What's your favorite Dr. Seuss book?

I think mine is the Star Bellied Sneetches....though I do very much love "What was I scared of" with the ghostly pale green pants.

12 little remarks:

My favorite is, for sure, You're Only Old Once: A Book for Obsolete Children. My grandma had it on her book case when I was little and it was my FAVORITE bed time story whenever I stayed there! It basically makes light of becoming elderly the entire time; I enjoyed it and would highly recommend it!

P.S. I thought the Google banner was ADORABLE.

I always loved "There's a Wocket in my Pocket," and "Marvin K. Mooney, Will You Please Go Now!" Oh, and "Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You?"

I love Dr. Seuss, and so do my girls. Good stuff.

Yes, it is indeed Theodore Geisel's birthday! I know these things from teaching Elementary. My favorite is Dr. Seuss ABC's I have it memorized! I read it to Claire at least once a week (on her request and sometimes for learning time). I LOVE Star Belly Sneetches too though.

I LOVE Dr. Seuss!!! Boston's new favorite is "Oh the Places You'll Go." He sits through the entire story and then asks for it again. I was impressed because it's kind of long for a 3 year old. I really love "The Grinch Who Stole Christmas" too.

Yes, teaching school gets the date in your brain - back in the day we'd have to dress up for the occasion and make room for a host of Suess-y activities. Never did that when I was a kid, though, too bad. I have to hand it to the pale green pants!

It's really hard to chose just one, but I sure love "Did I Ever Tell You How Lucky You Are?". Although I think it is the cutest thing ever when Hunter reads "Oh, the Thinks You Can Think"

Until recently, I thought that "Wacky Wednesday" was written by Dr. Seuss, but it's just under the label. Anyway - it was my favorite book. I also loved To Think I Saw It on Mulligan Street.

Now.. I might have to say Green Eggs and Ham, or I Can Lick 30 Tigers Today.

btw.. Dr. Seuss is our theme for girls camp this year, and our ward is going with the Star Bellied Sneetches as our theme. Fun.

My girls are celebrating at school this week. Today, crazy sock day. Tomorrow, hat day. Wednesday, Who Hair day is Thursday, and PJ day for a Dr. Seuss readathon. Fun stuff! My oldest loves to check out any Dr. Seuss from the media center. Some of them are tongue twisters!
My fave is probably Yurtle the Turtle.

I like reading "Oh the Places You'll Go" to my students on the last day of class. It's my way of inspiring them through the cute quirkiness that we share.
